What is Glyph?
Glyph is a phone and computer application developed by the International Pharmaceutical Federation that translates and illustrates prescription instructions into visual aids that patients can more easily understand and remember. Glyph also supports a notification feature that reminds patients when they need to take their medications. Glyph can run on phones or laptops, including in areas with no internet, allowing it to be used by those who need it most. |
What are pictograms?
Pictograms are simple, yet memorable images which have been proven to help patients understand and remember instructions. Each pictogram illustrates a single instruction (for example one pictogram may represent “Take with food”). Glyph uses prescriber-approved pictograms meet the European Commission standard2 and are actively updated by the International Pharmaceutical Federation. |

How Glyph uses pictograms
Glyph exports prescription information into three types of visual aids: label, storyboard, and calendar. The label describes only how and when to take a medication, while the storyboard presents all of the prescription’s information. The calendar includes all of the patient’s prescriptions in a weekly format. |
